Love and Logic

Teaching SSL, I see many different students in my classroom on any given day. And it seems like they all want to be sure to report to me (read this at tattle) on everything possible thing that another student has done. Love and Logic's advice to acknowledge the comments, but then ask the student how he or she can best solve the issue has been a lifesaver! I now use it often, and find that I end up having fewer students who feel the need to report to me all the minor issues of the day.

Costa Verde International School- Mexico

Over the Thanksgiving holiday I have a professional development opportunity in Mexico. I will be traveling to Sayulita to visit the Costa Verde International School and meet with their language teachers. This experience will provide new ideas and best practices for teaching Spanish as a second language. I also hope to set up a way for my students to communicate on-line with students at Costa Verde. Check out their website!

School year 09-10

Classes start at my school next week and we are busy preparing for a successful year of Spanish conversation! My goals for the year are that each and every student who spends time in my class leave feeling that she/he has gained a basic language and culture foundation. I hope to inspire students to continue with world language learning at the middle and high school levels.
